The 17th of December in 1903 was a very important day in the life of Orville and Wilbur Wright. On this day, they made 4 trials of flying with their new FLYER I airplane, driven by a new invented propeller-motor with 12PS. The total weight of the plane was 337 kg. The first trial lasted 12 seconds and fly 36 m, the last flight lasted 59 seconds for about 256 meters in the air. On the location of this first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina „The Wright Brother National Memorial“ was erected.
