After Obama’s election as President of the United States a spirit of optimism was recognisable in America and Worldwide. Already in his fi rst presidency year, Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 - 45 years after Martin Luther King. These events and the notion of a peaceful and fairer world initiated Cook Islands to commemorate these dynamic personalities with this special coin edition.
