O. Lilienthal (1848 – 1896) was study very intensive the birds fly. As a designer and Engineer he has constructed. 1891 his first glider in accordance of his observations and studies. He performed 2000 gliding test which make him finally flying more than 350 meters in distance by just jumping off a cliff riding on the up wind. He died on August 9. 1896 during an experiment and test with a by himself developed glider. Lilienthal is called the „father of the aerodynamic in modern aviation“ and regarded as founder of the name „Flugzeug“ as well.
