Murrine Millefiori

The glass processing technique Millefiori «thousand flowers» was already known in Ancient Rome and is nowadays mainly continued on the island of Murano near Venice. In 2015 CIT launched the Murrine Millefiori Glass Art series that displays this stunning technique on a beautiful fine silver coin. The coins feature an elaborate combination of fine silver and colourful glass elements. State-of-the-art minting technology is combined with the millenia-old Millefiori tradition to create truly unique coins. The individual Millefiori glass rods are handselected making each coin a one-of-a-kind collectable.

The delightful first edition of the series confirmed its appeal to collector’s by winning the People’s Choice Award at the 2016 Coin Constellation in Moscow. The series concluded with the third and final issue released at WMF in 2017.
